Bill S. 1867 is MARTIAL LAW legislation. Pure and simple.

When all hell is breaking loose in the streets of America, the U.S. Military will have the power to detain ANYONE, U.S. citizen or not, without the DUE PROCESS required by the U.S. Constitution: FIFTH AMENDMENT RIGHT OF DUE PROCESS OF LAW.

Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel, and Holocaust survivor, once said:

Sad day for America's children and the U.S. constitution:
Today, Saturday December 31, 2011, President Obama signed the NDAA into law.

While everyone was cheerfully preparing for the new year's eve celebrations, Obama signed S.1867 NDAA into law. Quietly. Probably very few people noticed.

This is what the ACLU wrote on their website:
"The ACLU believes that any military detention of American citizens or others within the United States is unconstitutional and illegal, including under the NDAA. In addition, the breadth of the NDAA's detention authority violates international law because it is not limited to people captured in the context of an actual armed conflict as required by the laws of war."

The Senate last night codified into law the power of the U.S. military to indefinitely detain an American citizen with no charge, no trial and no oversight whatsoever with the passage of S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act.

One amendment that would have specifically blocked the measures from being used against U.S. citizens was voted down and the final bill was passed 93-7."

I am going to repeat this: Senate had a chance to exempt American citizens from being detained without due process of Law, and the Senate voted AGAINST the amendment that would have protected American citizens' rights to due process.

That should make you think. Why would U.S. Senators do this to the people they are supposed to SERVE?
